Official B’nai B’rith activities begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Shachrit service, followed by an oneg at the restored historical synagogue Temple Israel (at the corner of 4th & Pine, 1 block west of Harrison Avenue). Rabbi Sara Gilbert from Greeley’s Beth Israel Congregation will lead services. Alice Forshner will read from the torah.
Dinner that evening will be at 4:00 p.m. at the Printer Boy Campground, we will have a kosher-style dairy potluck organized by the Young Leadership. For those that are interested there will be an opportunity to serve the hungry in the Leadville community at St. George Episcopal Church at 5:00 p.m. (directly across the street from Temple Israel). Donations to B’nai B’rith Denver to help cover the food and clean up expenses would be greatly appreciated.
Feel free to bring canned goods to support the church’s ongoing meals program. Non-perishable protein items (e.g., tuna, peanut butter, etc.) are especially appreciated.

We will begin the annual clean up of the Leadville Hebrew Cemetery at 9:00 am on Sunday, beginning with a free continental breakfast. Our goal this year is general clean up of the cemetery grounds; which will include cutting weeds, pruning tree branches, picket fence painting and sprucing up soiled grave markers.
Starting in 1995, B’nai B’rith Denver has partnered with the Temple Israel Foundation to restore the cemetery after decades of neglect. The cemetery was re-consecrated in August 1999 and is currently accepting new interments. Our partnership has remained and annual volunteer clean ups have been continued every summer.
A graveside memorial service honoring those early Jewish pioneers buried in the Leadville Hebrew Cemetery will be conducted at 11 am. Each year the service is held around a different gravesite that has been researched regarding the history of the deceased. The brief service will be led by Rabbi Joel Newman of B’nai Vail Congregation.
Following the memorial service, B’nai B’rith will provide a kosher lunch to thank all volunteers for their hard work and devotion to this annual mitzvah.
Clean up will continue throughout the day until approximately 4:00 pm.
